Grade 6/7A Sciences Course Outlines 2019-2020

Welcome to Grade 6/7A Sciences.  My name is Mrs. Hirsch and I will be your child’s homeroom teachers as well as your their Sciences (which consists of Math and Science). This is my 8th year at CAPE school but by 10th year of teaching. We do not have a classroom EA this year.

Since this year is a split class with the 6/7's we will be working in a Science 6 year, with ranging grades in math.

There will be plenty of time in class to work on their class work, but students will need to complete the assignments at home if they did not finish in class. I do not love sending homework home, just to have homework.  I would rather the students be able to enjoy their time at home with family and friends with the odd time having to do homework. The only way your child will see homework daily is if they are not using class time wisely.  Studying will need to be done at home. As parents you will be able to see what is for homework, when it is due and what things are coming up for marks by checking their agendas daily.  In our class we will get the students to write their homework down in the agendas and we will sign it  before they get to leave for the day.  Please check their agendas each night and also sign off saying you saw it. This will help the students stay accountable, and keep our communication lines open. The homework will also be placed on my website. My classroom site can be found at http://ahirsch7.wix.com/ashley-hirsch or  through the CAPE website. If at any time this year  you have questions or concerns about your child or our class, please contact me at ahirsch@capeisgreat.org. I would also like to keep in contact with you about your child and how they are doing here at CAPE.  I do find it very difficult during the day to find time to contact parents and even more difficult in the evenings.  I find it easier to send a quick note through the students agendas or contact you by email rather than calling you at home or bothering you at work. Therefore, I am asking for you to check agendas and for your email address if you have one. Thanks so much!
